I hold a degree from the University of Virginia. My primary focus of study was English Literature and psychology. I gained my first experience in teaching as an employee for Teach for America, in the Dallas area. At the present moment, I teach first grade, and I absolutely love it! I thoroughly enjoy my job teaching, and nothing excites me more than watching a lesson take hold in the mind of a young person. My greatest passion is for teaching reading and writing. It is my personal belief that all students are capable of success if the right amount of confidence is instilled in them and they are given the proper guidance and instruction. Though I am able to tutor children in a wide variety of subjects, I have a passion for teaching reading, writing, and literature. When I am not helping children learn the basics they need to succeed in life, I enjoy traveling and studying other cultures. This gives me the opportunity to increase my own level of knowledge so that I can pass on a greater amount of information and understanding of the world to my students. Currently, I am located in Vienna, Virginia. Subjects that I am able to teach include essay writing and editing, reading and reading comprehension, phonics, literature, college essay writing, AP test preparation, elementary math, and standardized test preparation.
