ExperienceI received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Mary Washington. After I graduated, I started to work with the Advancement Via Individual Determination readiness program. I worked with small groups of individuals to create an academic atmosphere conducive to achieving a proper problem solving environment. While working at AVID, I realized how much I loved to teach and developed the determination I needed to become a tutor. I enjoy teaching a wide range of subjects including Math, English, Writing, Science, standardized test prep for the ACT and SAT, and more.Since working with AVID, I have developed a unique approach to tutoring. I feel that tutoring must be adapted to each student to suit their unique needs. I believe that gaining the confidence and self-esteem needed to learn is important. I know that with the proper work ethic, any student can succeed. When I am not working, I love spending time with service dogs that I train for veterans. I also enjoy riding horses, playing basketball, and hiking.
